JMU is ranked among the top 25 school in the country for first time candidates passing the CPA exam. The list comes from the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) which examines the pass rates of candidates from over 2,000 colleges and universities. JMU is ranked 18th for candidates with advanced degrees and 23rd for candidates without advanced degrees. During the last testing cycle, 20 JMU students took all four sections of the exam, and 13 passed, for a pass rate of 65 percent.
